Privacy online is a myth and no site or app can guarantee it.

If you need to give out personally identifiable information like social security numbers online, ask the requestor why they need, what they are going to use it for, and how they are going to protect it.

The best way to protect our privacy online is to share less. However, when we must upload personal information ensure it is password protected.

Why QR Codes Can Be Dangerous
(Video: 1 minute 28 seconds)

Cyber criminals are known to place their own malicious QR codes over legit QR codes which can lead you to a harmful website or even install a virus.

If you need to scan a QR code, triple-check that you are on the correct website. If you are prompted to enter sensitive info or account logins, don't.

Try to avoid using QR Codes when possible.
